UNCSA alumni are making significant impacts in the arts, from backstage to center stage. Notable achievements include Paul Tazewell, a School of Design & Production alumnus, who became the first Black man to win an Academy Award for costume design. Visual Arts alumna Hunter Schafer is also gaining recognition for her roles in 'Euphoria' and 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbird.'
Established in 1963 as the first public arts conservatory in the United States, UNCSA has been a leader in arts education for over 50 years. Located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the school is renowned for nurturing the talents of creative and dedicated young artists across college, graduate, and high school programs.
