Through dance, we create authentic connections, engaging and inclusive educational opportunities, and transformative experiences. We inspire individuals and communities to explore the boundless potential of the imagination.
Charlotte Ballet's history is marked by its transformation from the North Carolina Dance Theatre to the Charlotte Ballet in 2014. Founded in 1970 by Robert Lindgren, the company has grown to become the oldest professional ballet company in North Carolina. It has performed an extensive repertoire over the years, with leaders like Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux having significant ties to renowned choreographers. The company has also developed the Reach Scholarship Dance Program to support local emerging talent. Charlotte Ballet's artistic director, Alejandro Cerrudo, has been instrumental in shaping the company's artistic vision and expanding its reach beyond the state. The company's commitment to education and community engagement is evident through its educational and community programs, which have exposed approximately 20,000 area school children to dance.
