Eleanor ("Elle") Johnson (1922-2006) was a Los Angeles based dancer, choreographer, and teacher known for combining motifs of Afro-Cuban dance with modern dance. She studied under Katherine Dunham and Lester Horton before forming her dance troupe in the 1950s. Johnson was assistant choreographer for a number of 20th Century Fox films. In 1966, she founded the Elle Johnson Dance Company.
